The San Juan River

Looking upstream from Trimble Camp, one of a handful of pre-reserved camps near the end of the run. Because Lake Powell has drowned most of the naturally occurring beaches, the BLM requires reservations for the few bench camps in this stretch of the river. This is Trimble, about Mile 72. The camp was rocky, marshy, buggy and generally unpleasant. We won't stay here again.  May 2001
