Mt Sherman
Considered one the easier climbs amongst Colorado's 14,000' mountains, Mt. Sherman is located in the sub-range of the Rockies known as the Mosquitoes. It was a center of heavy mining activity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and there are many reminders of the past in the drainage leading up to the trailhead - ruined mining structures, taling piles, etc. The mountain itself is one of Colorado's most isolated 14,000' peaks, rather inconspicuous in appearance and was one of the last identified of Colorado's 54 14,000' peaks.
The climb is longish, but relatively easy. The hardest part is finding a good route through the scree field near the top, and getting down before the summer thunderstorms roll in. We just barely managed to get off the mountain on this climb in 1990 before getting pounded by a very nasty storm that rocked our tent more or less all night.
