Karin beside the "D. Julien" inscription at Hell Roaring Canyon. Julien is a fairly mysterious figure, one of the earliest known white trappers in this area. He left inscriptions in at least two other known spots in the Green/Colorado drainage. The boat and the birdlike figure below are also believed to be his - the rest of the chiseling is modern day vandalism - pity that the bottom feeders who defaced this remarkable historical site were never caught.  July 1991.
